After a hiatus of three years we re-established the Shakespeare Schools Festival (Malawi) in Lilongwe, with the kind support of the Shakespeare Schools Festival (South Africa)<\/a> and Madsoc Theatre \/ Mwezi Arts<\/a> (Lilongwe).<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This is a small but exciting start to the second instantiation of the Festival. We hope to attract new Friends to allow the Festival to recover its old strength (and more) in years to come.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOur New Home\t<\/h2>\n\t

Madsoc Theatre<\/strong><\/a> (Music and Drama Society) is a remarkable outpost of theatrical creativity in Area 2 of Malawi’s capital city. It houses two theatres: a studio theatre and (a new project) an open air theatre. It has also a handsome garden. Its annual Theatre Renaissance Cabaret<\/strong> attracts artists from across Malawi and from ‘Beyond the Lake’.<\/p>\n

Cross the Lilongwe bridge from Area 3 to Area 2. Turn left at the second robots. (KAK Arcade and Bread Talk stand on the corner.) Pass through the market area and climb the hill. Turn left at the first turn on to a dirt road. (If you reach the mosque, you have gone too far.) The road descends. At the first bend to the left, turn right into the car park of Madsoc Theatre<\/strong>. There is a sign.<\/p>\n
