WashBetterMalawi
Maureen Mark washes her hands at Kabutho Primary School, Lilongwe. Pail and soap were provided by WashBetter.
WashBetter is a small NGO that promotes sanitation in schools and orphanages in Malawi.
Mr. Peter Phiri helped friends in the United States of America to establish WashWell in Malawi. When they withdrew from the project, he chose to continue the work independently as WashBetter. It has been operating under this name since 2020.
WashBetter operates on a limited budget and is directly accountable to donors. It provides pails, soap and a short workshop on basic sanitation to participating institutions.
WashBetter is looking for more projects in this time of ongoing pandemic. Work thus far has taken place in Lilongwe, Mtunthama (Kasungu District) and Mua (Dedza District).
The Shakespeare Schools Festival - Malawi is working in partnership with WashBetter. A proportion of any income derived from our (virtual) Fourth Festival will fund WashBetter programmes at participating schools.
